The Boys' Choir

The traditional choir of boys and men is still flourishing at St Peter’s. Boys come from primary schools around the city, often starting in years 3 & 4 (though some do start later) and staying until their voices break. A good number of the boys go on to become alto, tenor or bass Choral Scholars in the choir. Many of the older choristers attend St Peter’s Collegiate School, which has an excellent music department. Although there is a lot of work involved, much of the emphasis is on fun and the boys receive huge benefits which include a free musical education; working together co-operatively with each others and with adults; belonging to a group in which they make many friends, opportunities for sporting activities and visits to exciting venues.

The boys’ choir has had links with the boys’ choirs of Bradford Cathedral, St Mary’s Collegiate Church, Warwick, Croydon Minster and Grimsby Minster.
