Training and Awards

As well as the normal training they receive through choir practices, new boys have a probationers' practice each Monday from 6.00 to 6.30.

The Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Voice for Life training scheme is in action. More experienced choristers have training sessions which enable them to progress through the different coloured medal ribbons. Training for the first two grades (the light blue and dark blue medal ribbons takes place from 7.30 - 8.00 on Mondays.

Training for the RSCM Awards schemes - Gold, Silver (Bishop's) and Bronze (Dean's) Awards - takes place on Mondays with the music staff and the Rector.

There is extra vocal training for the Choral Scholars, provided by the Friends of St Peter's Music.

At present we have 12 Gold Award winners singing in the choir, more than any other choir in the worldwide RSCM.

Training staff are Ellie Frith, David Rendell, Tony Pinel and the clergy: David Wright and Jo Williams.
